I loved the way she looked.
She loved the way I looked.
That work for about 4 years,
but then the liking of looks
lost its appeal.
She grew cold and distant
I grew annoyed and tired
of her indifference.
And I could see where
things were going;
that is, she was planning
on leaving me secretly.
I said to her, “Look, if you
don’t want to be married
to me, you don’t have to be.
Nobody is forcing you to
stay here.”
A day later she was gone,
which turned out to be one
of the best days of my life.
And I no longer liked the
way she looked after
seeing the parts of her
beyond the superficial.
It was a good riddance
to her and a happy days
for me.
