Daren’s girlfriend, Wanda, always got crazy
during full moons, as if connected to them.
but Daren didn’t care, not one bit.
he said, “At least she’s not a werewolf.”

I cannot even begin to count
all the people who have passed
through my life.
From passing strangers to friends,
enemies, coworkers and lovers.
From Woburn, Massachusetts to
many towns, cities and states.
From Germany, Paris, Rome, and
the Philippines too, so many
passing people.
Many no doubt are dead now and
many are still living,
but like me they’re all passing out
of this world, one by one, place
by place.
All of us just people passing through
this temporary world into the next.

Imagine if that became true, and what would AI do?
Imagine if AI turned out to be altruistic and ran the
world better than humans do.
Imagine a world without wars and crimes and for
once everything was running smoothly.
Or, as many believe, a world where humans
became obsolete and enslaved by an AI overlord.
Or, as some believe, imagine a world were humans
became extinct and AI lived on in their place.
Supposedly 99% of all the species that ever lived
are now extinct, and we could be one of them.
I choose to see AI as beneficial and a possible
tool in creating a far better world than this one.
I also see a lurking darkness where a nation with
evil intentions could use it to conquer the world.

A lonely sparrow croons a love song
seeking a female mate.
As female sparrows swoon, a hawk
hears the sparrow’s song as well.
Just as an enchanted female sparrow
flies toward the amorous male sparrow,
the ravenous hawk swoops in and rips
the sparrow’s song and his life away.
The carnage in this world can be
overwhelming sometimes.
And neither song birds nor humans
are ever entirely safe.

I was thinking about you this morning,
the you I have never met.
I was thinking how nice it would be
to have you around.
And how much fun it would be to
banter with you and have some laughs.
I even thought about how nice just a
single touch of your hand would feel.
I didn’t have any erotic thougts about
you.
After all, we haven’t met yet,
let alone been together long enough
for intimate thoughts and actions.
Speaking of which, I know I could
love you so much that I could love
you platonicaly if you were unable or
unwilling to consummate.
I hope we’ll meet soon. I feel as if
I’ve waited my entire life for you.
I’d end this poem with hugs and
kisses, but I don’t want you to think
I’m too forward.
So bye for now.

I loved the way she looked.
She loved the way I looked.
That work for about 4 years,
but then the liking of looks
lost its appeal.
She grew cold and distant
I grew annoyed and tired
of her indifference.
And I could see where
things were going;
that is, she was planning
on leaving me secretly.
I said to her, “Look, if you
don’t want to be married
to me, you don’t have to be.
Nobody is forcing you to
stay here.”
A day later she was gone,
which turned out to be one
of the best days of my life.
And I no longer liked the
way she looked after
seeing the parts of her
beyond the superficial.
It was a good riddance
to her and a happy days
for me.

Joe joined the marines and got shipped
to the war in Nam.
He saw many horrors in those jungles,
even saw some of his marine friends die.
Jimmy Jones got shot in the face and
his brains blew out of the back
of his head.
Bart Henderson got his guts blown out
from some kind of missile direct hit.
Jake Brothers got one of his legs
shot off and kept screaming and
bled out so much that passed
out and died before the medic
could save his life.
The psychological impact of those sights
and others just as horrible, in Joe’s
words, “Fucked up my mind.”
He survived Nam somehow, not even a
scratch, but his mind was wounded from
all the carnage he saw.
When he made it home and was discharged,
he got a job at the local post office.
But he said he had trouble fitting back
into civilian life and felt like he was
going to go postal and shot up the
post office and everybody in it.
Luckily, he had the good sense to get
counseling at a local Veteran’s Center and
mellowed out enough to contain his PTSD
and function normally enough to fit into
civilian life.
Not long after thant, he met a good woman,
named Nancy, got married to a her,
and had a wonderful life.

I saw a guy in a documentary who had a lifesize doll as his wife
he treated her like a real wife and seemed quite happy
and I can sort of see some of the benefits he had
no arguments no cheating no divorce no toilet seat hassles

She was my first love and we were going to get married
teenagers living far apart in different states
I was sure her heart was true as well as her promises
until she met another guy and left me for him

Mary had a little lamb
she also had an annoying husband
the lamb was easier to get along with
so she got rid of the husband and kept the lamb
